Golfers, Hatua Network’s team, and more than 30 corporate partners converged at the Nyali Golf and Country Club Mombasa for a charity golf tournament yesterday that raised funds to support Hatua’s scholarship program in Mombasa. Hatua Network is a Mombasa based NGO supporting 500 youth with secondary and university scholarships, mentoring, career coaching and linkages to professional networks. Hatua awards scholarships to bright students coming from low-income backgrounds who would otherwise lack the opportunity to realize their potential. In addition to paying school fees, Hatua helps students to cultivate their values, character, leadership skills and career readiness. Among Hatua’s alumni, 100% are working within one year of their graduation.

Petro Oil was the Title sponsors of the event while Mvita MP, Hon. Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir pledged Ksh 300,000. He was represented at the event by Mohammed Hussein. The event raised Ksh 1.3 Million which will support students in Mombasa to progress in their education. Speaking during the event, Petro Oil CEO, Ben Kingori, commended the good work that Hatua is doing to help transform lives of youth from vulnerable communities.
